CASCADE LAKES ELECTIONS 2022:
Because there were only four candidates for four open slots, there was no election; those candidates automatically fill those open slots. The new Board is effective on March 24, 2022, which is the end of the current Board’s term and coincides with the members’ annual meeting.
The annual members’ meeting is not run by the Board; it is run by the members. The best way to accomplish this is to have the property management firm, FirstService Residential, organize the members’ meeting. In your Editor’s personal opinion, Dawn should conduct the meeting, not Ron, based on past experience with Ron’s multiple errors during past election cycles. If Dawn is not available, another choice other than Ron should be made.
The new Board consists of the following people in alphabetical order:

Congratulations to all and I am looking forward to a new political season which I hope will bring forth fairness and transparency for the benefit of all residents.
I hope that individual members of the current Board will not interfere with the orderly transition of power and will not engage in unnecessary HOA expense to consult with the lawyers about this process, as that would be wasteful and fiscally irresponsible.
The process is already clearly spelled out in Florida Statute 720.306 (9)(a) and (b) and the HOA governing documents, Section V, subsection H, page 3-5.
The organizational meeting for the Board to elect Officers is governed by Section VIII, subsection B of the By-Laws which states:
“The election of officers shall take place at the meeting of the Board of Directors immediately following each annual meeting of the Members.”
This means that the organizational meeting of the new Board is to take place on March 24, 2022 immediately after the annual members’ meeting.
There is no need for any current Board member to waste HOA money on legal fees to ask the lawyers about what is in black and white in the statute and the HOA’s documents and what is written above.
